BB there's going to be debris around it. nice to just get into edge and ID it as debris, then go and look for the big guy ,OK, but lets first verify that it's debris. 1930 BB way down, it smells like it-it's scattered, no pattern to it, which is good. 2359 closer approach ambi 2 mins (75 foot range scale on sonar) (60 feet on oas) 3704 BB what's this Oh, crap, It's geology. . . it's rocks here. 3714 outcrops. Not exactly. Let's get in and get some still and check our cameras. 3850 too close to the volcano for the sonar to work, too many targets 4157 Arrgh 4200 do you want to go back to 300 foot range scale? set oas for 300 scan and rise up (Ballard has been sitting on a trash can) (Back in dry lab) 5213 BB it's geology, if you've got geology at that steep a slope, you know that's geology where does that leave us? That leaves us having surveyed the entire area around Kaga, having looked at all the major targets and either eliminated them by cross referencing or visually. There's nothing in here. 5245 because the targets we saw are Kaga sized. we found the two geologic features in this area that are Kaga sized and shaped, but they weren't Kaga. go back and dive on the one where we have a good fix, and good data. One point just doesn't do it. disappointing but, you can't find 'em where they aren't. 10129 Boy it was looking good for awhile as we were coming in on the sonar. Looked like a debris field. but it wasn't. (had us convinced) you could hear it Tinkle tinkle tinkle -that's what the debris field sounds like, but so do a buncha rocks, that's the unfortunate thing. l0156 old rocks, very old rocks.
