Observation details
Later date than I usually see this species in fall. Small, dark, short-legged Tringa, appearing less than half body size of Greater Yellowlegs/only slightly larger than nearby Rusty Blackbirds. Field marks included white eye ring and lore ("spectacles"), dark brown upperparts, plain, dark upperwings with no white stripe as Spotted Sandpiper would have; white tail with dark central tail feathers, dark rump/uppertail, and distinct dark barring on white outer tail feathers.
