Observation details
This bird was spotted right next to shore, near the beach area. We observed it thru binoculars, and spotting scope, and I took many photos. While we did not have another bird to compare it to, it was much larger that I remember the re-necks being. Their was less streaking on the back than I would have expected, and the bill is extremely thick ion comparison to the Red-necked. The Red Phalarope usually shows a small amount of orange, or light color at the base of the lower bill, which this bird did have, but it is very light, and was seen better thru the spotting scope. I understand the rarity of this bird, and will change it to Red-necked if it is felt that the bird should be changed
