Media notes
This was an adult that I saw cross a trail with a juvenile of the same species, singing in response to playback. This song type was commonly heard at Tapichalaca, whereas the Scytalopus parkeri recordings on John Moore's published Birds of the Ecuadorian Highlands CD (#1 and #2) were rarely heard here. Call type #7 on Moore's CD is most similar to the Tapichalaca birds, but not as slow or low-pitched. (Track 1 referred to in voice announcement was not archived.). Habitat: Cloudforest, Montane Grassland, Stream.
