Observation details
This bird was first seen in flight when it interacted with a Franklin's Gull and I realized it was a jaeger. When resting on the lagoons, it was present with gulls who paid no attention to it, until it flew. Then there were chases. When Sandy Aubol and Matt Spoor were with me in mid-afternoon, it was soaring for several minutes with gulls, spending time over the grasslands north of the lagoons. Key points in making the identification include same size as Franklin's Gulls that were swimming nearby, the two white primary shafts at the end of the wing, and the two central tail feathers that are blunt-ended and project just beyond the tail.
