Observation details
Male seen in a field in the company of other dabblers and Tundra Swans (but was not associating with a flock of American Green-winged Teals that appeared in another part of the field during the course of the observation). Appearance as in American, but differing primarily in lacking vertical white patch on sides of breast, and possessing a bold horizontal white stripe above the flanks. Accepted by Michigan Bird Records Committee based on written description and photographs for a second state and first Upper Peninsula record.
