Observation details
Finally found one here today after long suspecting that this species likely occurs on the property somewhere. It was in the snag cluster where the Red-headed Woodpeckers hang out, south of the east parking lot off SR16. https://goo.gl/maps/RiSBYNWd9d22 I did not have my camera or binocs with me when I found it but I was able to capture some iPhone video that recorded the bird's loud sharp 'peek' notes. It was in a snag right over my head at one point and I could see that it was a large black and white woodpecker, about the same size as a Red-bellied Woodpecker. The call notes alone rule out Downy and other similar Woodpeckers. Here are a couple of iPhone video clips that caught some diagnostic audio: https://flic.kr/p/CXXMsR and https://flic.kr/p/C1zfX4
