Observation details
Word is there are actually two Ancient Murrelets present. While we were watching a bird that was consistently being seen just east of the bridge at Pacific Ave, another birder reported seeing one just off the western edge of the south breakwater. The Ancient Murrelet that patrolled up and down Ballona Creek at the Pacific Ave bridge and east tended to stay either in the middle or near the southern edge of the creek. This allowed us fantastic looks at the bird on multiple occasions. At one point it lunged for a small fish no more than 4 feet away from Larry Sansone's foot.
