Observation details
Continuing bird at the pond by the blind. Someone had it right at the blind itself before sunrise but when we arrived it had just flown with a large group of cackling geese to somewhere else in the water. Laura was able to relocate it from her vantage point on the bridge. Preening and resting with head tucked until about 8:35 when it flew across to the other side of the road and proceeded to preen in open view and good sunlight for the remainder of the time. We left it still there. Smaller than Canada geese without white on head or face. Orange legs. Black bill with limited orange near tip seen very well when head was lifted for brief moments. Extensive video and photos taken.
