*****MEGA***** First record for Guatemala. These birds call frequently in the dwarf mangroves around don Valentin’s house. Grunting outbursts are heard after any loud noise is produced by the household, these outbursts are answered by several different birds around the wetlands. I counted at least six individuals calling from different sections of the stunted mangrove wetlands, of these at least three separate individuals seen. There could easily be many more individuals in this wetland. PLAYBACK WAS NOT USED TO SEE THESE BIRDS. During low tide these rails walk across a cut in the mangrove that can be seen from the elevated kitchen of the house. My first photos were taken early in the morning in low light conditions as the first individual walked across the gap, later more birds did the same. One of these walked stealthily to the edge of the mangrove at the foot of the elevated kitchen deck. *****MEGA***** Primer registro para Guatemala. Estas aves vocalizan con frecuencia entre los manglares enanos alrededor de la casa de don Valentín. Se escuchan arrebatos de gruñidos después de que se produciera cualquier ruido fuerte en la casa, varios individuos diferentes respondían alrededor de los humedales. Conté al menos seis individuos que llamaron desde diferentes partes de los humedales de manglar enano, de estos al menos tres individuos separados fueron vistos. Fácilmente podrían haber muchas más en este humedal. PLAYBACK NO FUE UTILIZADO PARA VER ESTAS AVES. Durante la marea baja, estos pájaros caminan a través de una brecha en el manglar que se puede ver desde la cocina elevada de la casa. Mis primeras fotos fueron tomadas temprano en la mañana en condiciones de poca luz cuando el primer individuo cruzó la brecha y luego más individuos hicieron lo mismo. Uno de ellos caminó sigilosamente hacia el borde del manglar al pie de la cubierta elevada de la cocina.
