Observation details
The number of individuals in the flock (at least one, possibly two main groups) continue to increase. Seem to split their time between the park itself (today heard and seen along the steep cement entrance path) and the dense weedy field near the cement impoundment structure (downstream of the park in the wash). Smallish goldfinches (comparable in size to Lesser Goldfinches) with gray overall body color and bright yellowish-green primaries. Males showing bright yellow bellies with contrastingly black crowns. Pale bills. Heard calling quite a bit, sharp metallic "tink, tink, tink-it-tul" notes, diagnostic among expected US "Spinus" species.
