Observation details

Originally identified as a Lilac-crowned Parrot, but in reviewing the photos, this may be a Red-crowned Parrot. Note the dark bluish wash on the sides of the head compared to the pale lilac color of the Lilac-crowned. Also note that the bluish color does not extend over the top of the head as in Lilac-crowned; it is confined to the sides of the head only. This bird’s head profile was also not as blocky as the Lilac-crowneds.
