Observation details
When we arrived, the Marsh Sandpiper found the previous day had not been seen since early this morning. It was spotted again at 443 PM and the group of observers slowly moved closer. Much smaller than numerous Greater Yellowlegs (about the size of a Solitary Sandpiper), and much paler, standing out at even a great distance. Face and fore-crown very white; bill thin, legs drabber than yellowlegs, fully white rump with a hint of white going up the back when the bird stretched and hopped. Many photos. Others got some much better photos than I did. Initial views were over 400 meters away, but we got to about 100 meters. The bird flew toward us, but I never saw the upper surface in flight.
