Observation details
Finally! Ryan had made roughly dozen trips covering several hours of watching this winter before seeing the bird today. Also noted faintly barred breast during the split second I was able to see that before taking photos. Bird flew north down the hedgerow along Ben Williams Rd., about halfway between Vemers Ford Rd. and western entrance to Bradford Farm. Initially noted a bulky bird with a long tail that was backlit. Had wonderful views when it perched, for no more than a minute. When it took off, it headed northwest, out of the Bradford Farm area, confirming my suspicions that it uses an area much larger than just the southwest corner of Bradford Farm. It appeared to land near a home to the west of the farm, possibly using the feeders there as a food source. I searched for the bird for about 20 minutes before Josh arrived, but did not see the bird from Vemers Ford Rd. I'm not convinced we would have seen the bird during our encounter if we had been waiting on Vemers Ford Rd.
