Observation details
Observed from atop the berm surrounding the impoundments excavated at this site 2 years ago. The stilt was in the marsh to the west, across the entrance road to the boat launch (marina). The bird was in view for almost the entire duration of observation. Lanky shorebird with very long, bright pink legs; long needle-like black bill (twice as long as the bird's head); black upperparts and white underparts; narrow black stripe running up nape from from back to crown; black "spur" extending into upper breast; prominent white spot above both eyes. Observed foraging in marsh pools and grass, preening, and resting. Also seen taking 2 brief flights. Upper wings solid blackish. Video link: https://www.flickr.com/photos/jgluth_brb/18569374802
