Observation details
Noticed an Ibis flying in from the north and it came in and landed approx. 50yds. away from my son James and I in the pannes along E. Squantum St. in Squantum. Right away I noticed that this bird did not seem like the expected Glossy Ibis that I usually see here. The most striking feature was the white color that completely surrounded the eye and face up to the bill. Additional features noticed included dull pinkish/red facial skin, a deep red eye color, light gray bill, dull pinkish legs, and contrast between blackish primaries, secondaries & green covert feathers. The bird was alone and was there when we left about 45 minutes later. I wonder if this could be a bird from the upper Essex County area? Several distant photos taken. WOW!
