Observation details
Late. Seen at close range foraging in the wrack line with Least Sandpipers and Ruddy Turnstones. Small sandpiper in breeding plumage with strongly rufous auriculars and crown, with some rufous on scapulars. Fairly long thin bill with slight droop (longer than Semipalmated, less curved than Dunlin). Black legs. Black streaks along flanks (hard to see but present in photo). Photo:
