Summer Tanager "pi-tik-tik" calling while eating. Some Yellow-rumped Warbler chirps in background.
Observation details
Continuing female-type bird at persimmon tree. Yellow, darker wings, slight crest, thick pink bill. Today I noticed that the orange speckles around its face, previously thought to be persimmon juice stains, seem to be more prominent now - perhaps transitioning into red morph plumage? John Callender's eBird photos from Dec 8 also show faint reddish spots and red at base of tail. Still quite loud and chirpy, always signalling its arrival to the persimmon tree. Came twice before and during check. Photos to come. Betsy may have better photos.
