Observation details
Celebrity shrike continues; photo'd (some DR shots below). There is talk now that the Red-tailed/Isabelline Shrike (Lanius phoenicuroides/isabellinus) set may be involved, rather than Brown Shrike (Lanius cristatus), but research continues. If Brown Shrike is involved, likely the race lucionensis or intergrade. Later (16 Apr): after further review of my photos and more recent shots, I think this cannot be Red-backed Shrike, and the essentially dark brown new dark (darker distally) fits lucionensis Brown Shrike reasonably well. It is possible there is some cristatus involved, I suppose, but I am coming around to Brown Shrike (Philippine) for this interesting bird. If an intergrade of some type, perhaps cristatus-isabellinus is most likely?
