Observation details
Far out in the main inlet channel on an incoming tide, moving past the jetty and towards the Halifax River. Although photo quality is very poor due to the severe backlit conditions, it does show a large duck with a heavy wedge-shaped head and bill, suggestive of either SUSC or WWSC. While the plumage appears to be generally dark, a more detailed inspection of this image shows a very faint indication of two pale spots on the head that appears supportive of either species to these observers, but otherwise inconclusive.
