Observation details
Continuing. Found by Barry Marts earlier in the week; this is at least the 4th year this bird has wintered in this location. It was perched all the way across the field at Capstone just in front of the wood lot. Fun to watch a mockingbird come at it and lose! Photos stink, but I think they show the no-neck look, small bill, and the mask tapering, but continuing, over the bill - the mask requires more imagination in the photo, but it was visible through the scope. The rich gray doesn't show up as well - washed out. The pure white belly of this bird was a beacon making it easy to find in spite of the distance.
