Observation details
Continuing mega rarity found yesterday by Roger Muskat. I arrived shortly after 7 AM and parked at the corner. The sandpiper was farther east up the road in a roadside ditch but completely backlit. Everyone then moved up the road to get better looks and all the shorebirds flushed. Eventually the Marsh Sandpiper landed out in the pasture along with some GRYEs. A short while later, it got up and flew back towards the traditional ditch. However, a few birders/photographers were right next to the spot and so the bird didn't land. Instead, it flew towards the main group of people, passed us, and continued east. It was seen dropping down and landing but no one was able to relocate it.
