NOTES: MS Stereo recording. LNS Note: This is the same recording used for LNS catalog #129248. Notes accompanying DAT: "Cattle & sky larks in rangeland with remnant Koa stumps." JN 21 Feb 2006 Notes on tape: "Sounds of beef cattle on Hawaii. This is the Mauna road that leads to the Hakalau Forest NWR, and the University of Hawaii Biological Station. Call of Pacific Golden-Plover. It flew directly overhead. Earlier in the recording you also heard some nearby wing beats, those were also from the Pacific Golden-Plover. It was probably a quarter to a third of the way into this cut....Used Sound Devices' MP2 Pre-amp. This is intended to go with Tim Barksdale's shot of the very same cattle. We're probably about 4 miles in on the Mauna road. Also audible in addition to the cows were Erckell's Francolin and bombs from the military facility on the other side of Mauna Kea. Breezy, a few cirrus clouds overhead." JN 21 Feb 2006.
