NOTES: Notes on tape: "Song from a male akepa. It had just copulated seconds before with the female in the crown of an Ohia and after dismounting the female it ruffled its feathers, the female ruffled its feathers. They sat a couple of inches apart on the perch. He just dropped down...set his wings and began falling and singing as he did so.... These akepas are part of Lenny Freed's study site...There is a female that is occupying an artificial nest box here." JN 08 Feb 2006. Other Behaviors: Copulate.
