Observation details
Drake in eclipse plumage. mid sized small-headed duck with small blue gray bill. Small black nail on bill. Head neck and breast unmarked mahogany brown. Dark brown sides and white stripe on side (forewing). Tertials dark with light edges. Didn't note undertail. Didnt see legs/feet. Bird was part of a flock of 80+ molting waterfowl including (mostly) Mallards, Ring-necked Ducks, Blacks, Gadwall, Redeheads and American WigeonRare summer record for Maine. Photos taken
