Observation details
Very rare, studied and photographed well in flight. Adult bird first spotted by Tom, who first noted the nearly all pale under wing save a couple of black spots at the very tip of the underwing primaries. Upper wing had more extensive black wingtips with more and longer white "mirror" spots than in Herring Gull. Head was a cute round shape with mild streaking. Legs were a darker pink color than in Herring Gull, and photos revealed a dark brown iris. Generally very slightly but observably smaller than the nearby Herrings.
