Observation details
It was with a small group of Green-winged Teal here and then later at mid afternoon in the small pool to the west of the main shorebird pool. We had excellent looks so we could rule out a hybrid. This bird had the white, bold horizontal strip across the body with no sign of the vertical white bar on the shoulder area like our nominate Green-winged would show. The face showed the much stronger pale lines. This pic is from the shorebird pool when we originally found it: This is another view showing the rear more: And this shot was from later in the afternoon when we returned - the birds had moved to the pool just to the west of the shorebird pool - this shows the face quite well:
