NOTES: LNS notes: This tape was off speed and originally recorded first at 3 3/4 ips for the first portion of the voice announcement and then 7 1/2 ips for the remainder of the voice announcement and the entire recording. The playback speed for archival was 4.02ips for the first secion, based upon the recordist's 440Hz calibration tone, and 8.02ips for the 7 1/2 ips section based upon this same calibration tone. Heavy thumping in the recording is due to cable noise. Also note, recordist states the year to be 1973, but the reel box, other tapes from the cruise and the Sound recording log all state 1975. 20Jul2006 SAS. Sound Recording Log: "Date: 10 Apr 1975. Time start rec.: 1010. Time stop rec.: 1030?. Boat: Panularis II. Tape #'s: 1 part 2. Position: off Gibb's Light. Species: 2 pairs humps. Number: 4-5? Est. range: 200 yds. within. Weather: cear. Sea state & noise level: 2 1/2. Propulasion & aux. noise status: off. Recorder: Uher. Filters: 100Hz H.P. Gain: 20. Hydrophone: CH-1a. If hump: # full calls: no, parts of. Any photos taken? no. Other notes: This was a 7 1/2ips sample - checking out systems, directional and oyster with CH-1a, in a rush to get out to the banks. There are cable vibration thumps heard early in the start of the secopnd cut (part 2) then clears for most part. Animal levels moderate to low." SEAOCEAN.
