NOTES: Although unseen when recorded at first, I did see this bird in response to playback; when recorded it was initially 25-30 meters away, later after playback about 20 meters away, and in the mid- to upper levels of trees down the slope in good forest near where the road curved in towards the sharp bend about two-thirds of the way up on the hill (and thus apparently a different bird than that highlighted in cut #2001-12-04); in response to playback, it came right in about 20 meters up overhead and I saw it relatively well; it was giving a whistled ÒfreetÓ call at first but later began singing, when it gave a similar song but somewhat more rapidly; additional playback resulted in my getting some of the calls on tape; partly cloudy, quite humid, calm, 76¡ F. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Different song. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest.
