Media notes

NOTES: The same pair of birds as in cut #2001-18-10, recorded following playback of the Antbird Master tape (I did not hear anything prior to playback); in this recording the birds were initially 15-20 meters away and low (1-2 1/2 meters up) in dense vegetation (sedges and other wetland vegetation) as they moved back-and-forth along the stream right where it crossed the road at the sharp bend at the bottom of the hill; in the later part the singing bird was 25 meters away and in the undergrowth up on the slope; in response to playback, the male came screaming in silently and up to 4-5 meters up with its inter-scapular patch flared but it eventually began singing; I saw the male very well but I failed to see the female today (though it was clearly present, given that many of these songs are duets); partly cloudy (broken high clouds), calm, 75¡ F. ML: Subject changed from recordist's original identification of Cercomacra laeta sabinoi to Cercomacra laeta to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Normal song. Other Behaviors: Mate, Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest, Creek, Riparian.
