Observation details
Frustratingly brief looks from the south parking lot as it perched on a telephone pole across the lagoon (near marker A); it soon flew into the golf course; we caught up with it at the north end of Nieto Ave at the edge of the golf course (marker B) and obtained much more satisfying views/photos. Generated by eBirdGM About the size of a WEKI, perhaps slightly slimmer and rounder, with a fairly slim blackish bill; the upperparts were mostly slaty blackish, with a dark cap and auriculars, white underparts (from the throat to the undertail coverts) but with a smudgy gray breast. The tail was mostly black but with a white tip; at times the tail looked uncharacteristically notched. The median coverts were faintly tipped in white, and the greater coverts had faint white edging. AHY, based on early timing, wingbars not particularly buffy, notched outer primaries (visible in some flight shots). Sharper photo by Mark: https://www.flickr.com/photos/44873529@N06/14404539449/
