Media notes

NOTES: Songs by a bird that was initially unseen but about 25-30 meters away and 20-25 meters up, later 25-30 meters away and 25+ meters up, always in large trees at the edge of tall terra firme forest along the road about 400 meters beyond the second stream crossing along the right fork of the second spur (ramal) road in the INCRA project (right where I recorded these same birds in cut #2000-47-06); the bird was singing only intermittently today, with the first song a natural one, but the second following playback of about two songs, after which I missed three songs getting back onto the bird; in response to the initial playback, two birds flew right overhead; following subsequent playback, they continued to fly back-and-forth low overhead (though not together), but they landed relatively high up in the trees, sometimes perching in the open on large trunks; the bird I saw well (described briefly on tape) may have been in wing molt and it looked worn and quite dull; this is the same pair of birds highlighted in cuts #2000-41-05, 2000-45-04, 2000-47-06, and 2000-49-05; high clouds with some blue sky overhead, calm, 79¡ F; no recording done on 25 December. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Normal song. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest, Second-growth.
