NOTES: Unseen bird was 10-12 meters away and 1-2 meters up in somewhat scrubby understory of relatively good terra firme forest about 150 meters beyond the first stream crossing along the right fork of the second spur (ramal) road in the INCRA project; this was recorded after I whistled twice at the bird, after which it sang the same song more frequently and it or another (unsexed) bird flew right in perched briefly on two or tree trunks about 1 1/2 meters up in front of me before flying off; subsequent playback had no apparent effect; there was a swarm of Eciton burchelli near the road, but most of the birds tended to remain back in the forest, only visiting the ants occasionally, thus making them very difficult to see; I was between the ants and where the birds were calling; partly cloudy, calm, 87¡ F. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Normal song. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest.
