NOTES: Three birds that were well seen as they perched in the open on exposed branches of a dead snag 30-35 meters away and 28-30 meters along the road at the edge of good, terra firme forest about 200 meters beyond the first stream crossing on the right fork of the second spur (ramal) road in the INCRA project; this was recorded following playback of a prerecorded tape, in response to which the birds came right in and sang right when two birds joined each other in the tree; after this, they generally just called, but they again sang once following playback a second time; however, subsequent playback had little effect; unfortunately, most of this is soft calls, with the first song decapitated and the second overlapping the loud calls of Euphonia rufiventris; there was a second pair calling off in the distance; partly cloudy, calm, 82¡ F. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Normal song. Response to playback: Different song. Other Behaviors: Mate, Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest.
