Observation details
Ca 1415, first glimpsed a wren near the stream at the photo point. In the firs 15 minutes after the first sighting, we glimpsed it very briefly 3 more times, always low, in dead horizontal branches of Alnus incana and Salix exigua, up to 10 m from the stream. Apparently foraging. Flight was quick, direct, and low. No calls except the one described. Not seen again until 1508. Initial description: broad white-gray eyebrow, unstreaked (whitish?) below, short cocked brown barred tail, back brown and I thought with dark front-to-back streaks. A bit smaller and less chunky than BCCH. Thought I saw buffy on flanks. Tail not tiny like PAWR, but shorter than BEWR (and HOWR?). At 1508, I finally saw it well, through briefly. Flushed up from near the stream within 8 m of where I had first seen it with a single, harsh "chack" call. Grayish-white beneath; middle of back with back-to-front black and white stripes.
