NOTES: Recorded following a whistled imitation by Mario Cohn-Haft, in response to which the bird approached and sang a similar song, though sometimes with a slightly more burry quality; the bird was unseen when recorded, but initially about 12 meters away, later about 8 meters away, and 1/2-2 meters up in relatively dense undergrowth of good but selectively logged terra firme forest at edge of a small, man-made tree-fall gap at end of a trail [04¡ 28' 12Ó S, 59¡ 33' 00Ó W] in the INCRA project, about 2 kilometers out the right fork of the second spur (ramal) road; using playback, I later managed to obtain brief views of this bird perched horizontally on a vertical stem about 1/2 meter up, and it was clearly a male of this species (described briefly on tape, though I did not see the throat color); partly cloudy, calm, 82¡ F. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest.
