NOTES: No data on this reel but see voice announcement for the next cut (#2000-34-01), which highlights this same bird after playback; this represents natural song by a bird that was about 20 meters away and 2 meters up in tall terra firme forest with a few relatively large trees and an open understory having many palms and Heliconia; in response to playback of two songs from this recording, the bird twice zipped by me low (ca. 1 m up) in the understory, once almost hitting me as it went by, and it gave a loud chatter, but it typically flew well back into the forest before landing so I was unable to see it well (though what I did see, a medium sized, darkish brown bird with a wing whirring, is consistent with this species); the songs after playback were similar to these but given more frequently (though I did not hear the introductory ÒchickÓ note before playback); this was recorded just off the second forest trail about 350 meters south of the road and not far from a dip in the terrain, presumably for a small stream; partly cloudy, calm, 80¡ F; this recording continues onto the next reel as cut #2000-34-01. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Normal song. Response to playback: Different song. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest.
