NOTES: This recording began at 5:28:24, just after I missed the bird's first song (the first song on tape was the bird's second of the morning); unseen bird was initially 60-70 meters in from the trail and 50+ meters away in an area that was difficult to approach; I turned the tape off at 5:33:26 and then walked back out to road to try a different angle; after walking back out to the road and in on another trail, I got back onto bird at 5:35:47 for one song at about 30 meters away before the bird quiet again; I then played, in response to which the bird and began singing at a far more rapid rate than it was typically doing without playback; it was unclear if it approached, but it was 30 meters away and 25 meters up for the latter part of the recording; bird was in tall terra firme forest on the north side of the road just before the second dip [03¡ 47' 34" S, 60¡ 17' 54" W]; after the tape ended, the bird apparently gave a long call at 5:52:21 back out towards the road where it had been; almost completely clear except for a slight haze, calm, 82¡ F. ML: Subject changed from recordist's original identification of Xiphorhynchus guttatus guttatoides to Xiphorhynchus guttatus guttatoides/dorbignyanus to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest.
