NOTES: This bird was seen briefly while recorded as it moved almost constantly through the understory of good terra firme forest along the trail to the tower; the bird was initially 10-12 meters away, later about 8 meters away, and <1/2 meter above the ground, often on the ground or perched on small twigs within 10-15 centimeters of the ground; the first part of this recording was made after I whistled at the bird, after which it gave the complex chattering, then subsequent whistling and playback of the first part (with the former seemingly working better than the latter) elicited the whistled ÒsongÓ in the second part, and the bird doing a broad circle around me, though never coming in all that close; I eventually saw the bird relatively well as it gave the whistle; this recording includes complex chatter, whistles, and one chick call; clouding up, calm, 82¡ F. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Different song. Other Behaviors: Advertise, Scold. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest.
