NOTES: Unseen bird was recorded on or very near the ground and as near as 8 meters in 5-6 meter-tall campinarana vegetation with and understory having some palms and bunchgrass, all about 5 meters from edge of open campina; this was recorded after limited playback of a prerecorded tape made at this same site by S¿rgio Borges; I never heard the bird prior to playback and its response following playback was minimal (though it gave Òpik, pik, pikÓ calls and also a ÒbzeeerÓ, in addition to the songs that I recorded); the bird seemed to walk through ÒchannelsÓ of taller grass, thus making it almost impossible to see; it was never in the open campina and about 50 meters north of where I took the GPS coordinates; two birds were singing later ; mostly clear but with some clouds later on, a mild breeze was just beginning to pick up when this was recorded; I noted the temperature only after I gave up trying to see the bird quite some time later, by which time it was 86-87¡ F (probably 82-85¡ F when recorded). Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Normal song. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Forest, Evergreen Forest, Savannah, Edge, Sand.
