NOTES: Recorded where a small channel crossed the road in a place with dense undergrowth with many ferns, bromeliads, and fallen trunks; unseen bird was about 15 meters away and 1-2 meters up; a young male with white restricted to base of throat; foraged on ground but also perched on branches 1 meter up and in a bromeliad up to about 3 meters above the ground; in response to playback , the bird gave ÒcheckÓ calls and approached but it did not sing much; full overcast, calm, 53¡ F. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Normal song. Response to playback: Different song. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest, Creek.
