Observation details
Continuing immature Blue Morph. This goose was super tiny, no bigger that the fat domestic Mallards. The wing coverts are white, ruling out a pure Blue Snow. The bill is smaller than a typical Snow,so I think this goose is a hybrid Blue Snow X Ross's. Ross's feature: White wing coverts Small size blackish, rather than dark brown color Blueish bill base Steep, concave upper mandible Snow features: Black lips Bill longer than many Ross's Some curvature where the bill meets the face There is also some evidence that the "Blue" gene is a Snow Gene, and all Blue Ross's have at least some Snow genes, although that debate is not yet settled. Never the less based on the plumage and bill size and shape, this bird probably best matches a F2 or F3 hybrid Ross's X Snow, but closer to Ross's than Snow
