NOTES: Two birds, initially unseen and 75-100 m away, but for latter two parts (files #RCR224-225) one individual was perched in the open about 40 m away and 30-35 m up, in the third part on a dead branch in the canopy of good igap¿ forest at the edge of a small, mostly dry, mud bath/salt lick located in a depression about 50 m in from bank of river a short distance above upper end of Trilha de Dr. Haffer; bird was seen moderately well and had a white throat and belly; presumably one of these same birds previously recorded in cut #RCR05-117; in response to playback, the birds flew back-and-forth overhead, generally at canopy level, sometimes perching overhead, but at others perching well back from clearing; they gave both similar and more agitated songs; typically, the birds landed overhead, sang briefly, and then flew off, so it was difficult to get them on tape due to the time it took me to switch between playback and record modes; 86-87¡ F, calm, and basically clear but hazy [= RCR222-226; GPS coordinates for saleiro in RCR227]. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Normal song. Response to playback: Different song. Other Behaviors: Advertise, Scold. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest, Riparian, Edge.
