NOTES: Unseen bird was probably 35 m up almost directly overhead in a large canopy tree growing right along Aguas Claras Road just beyond edge of clearing; this recording was made after playback of three of the birdÕs own songs in an attempt to bring it in a little closer but hoping not to change its song appreciably; however, as is clear from these vocalizations, the bird was somewhat agitated after it flew in to the tree up overhead; only the first part of this recording (up to about 2:05) contains songs by the woodcreeper, with the rest containing only songs by the saltator; Xiphorhynchus songs have a good signal but they are interspersed throughout with those by the Saltator; partly cloudy (high thin clouds), calm, mid-70s; split this recording [file CAR121] into two parts with the first part ending at 2:05; copy essentially the whole cut separately as #CAR05-69; announcement for both cuts is in file #CAR122. ML: Background subject changed from Pyrrhura picta to P. amazonum to reflect current taxonomy. -Jay McGowan 29Apr2015. ML: Subject changed from recordist's original identification of Xiphorhynchus guttatus eytoni to Xiphorhynchus guttatus [eytoni Group] to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Different song. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest.
