NOTES: Bird was well seen following approach in response to playback of itself by Luciano N. Naka; bird sang only once naturally, but in response to playback of a part of this song, the bird made a rapid approach, perched, and sang a few times, this captured in the first part of this recording, but it then went quiet; additional playback brought it in a second time, during which it sang again and I made the second recording before it flew back across the road; when seen, the bird was 6-8 m up and about the same distance away in mid-levels of the dense vegetation; bird gave essentially the same song after playback, probably more frequently, though it was difficult to be certain given that it sang only once naturally; recorded in dense scrubby growth at what appeared to be an overgrown clearing with palms and vines along side road off Aguas Claras Road; high clouds, calm, low 70s; note that the last song of Nonnula in cut #CAR05-43a ends at 2:03, after which the rest of this recording highlights the Hypocnemis to be copied as the following recording; announcement is contained in cut #CAR05-43b [= CAR069-071]. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Normal song. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest, Thicket/Brush, Second-growth.
