NOTES: Female-plumaged bird (greenish forehead and crown but red nape; whitish throat with speckling and a bold, yellow moustachial) well seen and photographed by Luciano N. Naka; bird was calling from and drumming on a 1 m-long, dead branch about 30 m away and 22-25 m up in the canopy of a large, live, mimosa-like tree over what appeared to be an overgrown field or orchard at edge of river about 1 1/2 km. [downstream?] from the highway crossing; some playback by LNN between these two cuts, but no apparent response; we also moved up a short distance between cuts, seeing the bird only before and during the latter part; this recording combines two files but there is no announcement for the first one. Response to playback: No response. Other Behaviors: Bill Drumming, Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest, Orchard, Second-growth.
