Bird 2.
Observation details
Bird 1 photographed from the boardwalk near the car park at 5.50am, Bird 2 from the same place 3 minutes later. Both shots show a similar angle and lighting conditions, however Bird 1 shows a poorly-defined throat patch, differing from the usual clean white throat of Bird 2 - a typical White-throated Needletail. Standard literature shows juvenile White-throateds to have a white throat as per adults, differing mainly by streaking in undertail coverts, which this bird lacks. Could indicate an exotic needletail sp., or perhaps more likely, just a young (poorly documented plumage?) or aberrant White-throated. Only one photo, which unfortunately doesn't show the lores, which may have helped with ID.
