Observation details
Estimate. They kept returning to the mud flats, going to the small rivulets heading from Hurkey Creek into the lake, though they were quite skittish. We spent about 45 minutes watching them / trying to inch closer without scaring them. When looking through a scope, saw at least two male Horned Larks that stood out from the others by lacking yellow (almost pure white throats / supercilium. Maybe an E. a. arcticola (or other white-throated subspecies). Unfortunately didn't get a decent photo of one of these individuals.
