Media notes

NOTES: Same individual as LNS 125277. Diptera sp. in background near microphone. [Thirteen songs and song fragments following playback, said to be by the same individual recorded in LNS #125277. Note, however, that none of the species imitated in the previous cut were imitated in this one and none of those here were included in the previous cut, suggesting that two birds may have been involved. Prior to singing, the bird gives eight examples of the "suuuweeep" Call of BNA (0:06, 0:09, 0:14, 0:16, 0:20, 0:285, 6:38, 6:41). Species imitated here appear to include Lanius ludovicianus (2:195-2:205, 3:01-3:02, 3:42-3:43), and possibly Catoptrophorus semipalmatus (2:51-2:53, 4:07-4:08, 5:055-5:075) and Toxostoma curvirostre (call - 3:07-3:08, 4:125-4:135, 4:375-4:395, 6:465-6:47, 6:575). Though more difficult to be sure, there also appear to be imitations here of song elements of Mimus polyglottos. Quality changed from 2-1 to 1-2 (some hiss but generally very good) - CAM - 9 November 2005]. Habitat: Desert.
