A female Pileated Woodpecker sits on top of a Cedar house bird feeder and eats "Woodpecker Treat" suet.
Observation details
A female Pileated Woodpecker has started coming to my yard frequently. At the beginning, she would sit in trees that border my yard, and observe the bird feeding stations for about 10 minutes, like she was contemplating whether or not to come. If the feeders were busy with American Goldfinches, Mourning Doves and Eastern Bluebirds, she would wait until they left before she flew to the feeders. Today, she only sat in the tree for about 5 minutes, so it appears she is getting more comfortable coming to my yard to take advantage of the many feeders available.
